Serial Thief Cries Like a Baby After Getting Arrested Again at Home Depot

Around 2:28 PM on September 9, 2024, Officers Rushabh Shah and Patryk Dawidczyk with the Township of Union Police Department were dispatched to a report of an attempted shoplifting at the Home Depot on 930 Springfield Road. They arrived on scene in the loss prevention office around 2:33 PM. In the loss prevention office, they met with a store employee and made contact with the alleged shoplifter, who was identified as Valerie Demoleas.

The store employee informed the officers that she attempted to shoplift $506.95 worth of items by concealing them in a tote bag. After the officers completed their investigation, Valerie was placed under arrest, handcuffed, and escorted to the patrol car. After she was placed under arrest, Valerie begged the officers to let her go and mentioned that she had been arrested by the same agency recently for a different incident.

She was transported to the Township of Union Police Department by the officers for further processing. She was charged with shoplifting under 2C:20-11B(2) and issued a summons to appear before the Superior Court at the Union County Jail on October 23, 2024.

Court records indicate that Valerie was later arrested again for allegedly shoplifting in Secaucus on October 14, 2024. Valerie has also previously been charged with theft in Jersey City on July 28, 2024, receiving stolen property in Milltown on December 19, 2023, receiving stolen property in Jersey City on April 26, 2023, and burglary in Bergenfield on April 13, 2023.
