Serial Thief Arrested for Stealing with her Daughter at Home Depot

Prior Arrest for Shoplifting

Around 4:22 PM on April 29, 2024, Officers Alfredo Perez and Timothy Ball with the Vineland Police Department responded to a report of a female shoplifter at Home Depot located at 3849 S Delsea Drive. The walked over to the loss prevention office and met with an employee who told them that a female had attempted to leave the store with unpaid items. The officers then walked into the office on scene and made contact with the alleged shoplifter, who was identified as Diane Wareham.

Diane was with her daughter at the time of the alleged shoplifting, and continued to deny that she attempted to leave the store with unpaid items. She even told the officers that she had a clean record, which was not true. The officers reviewed the surveillance footage, and decided that she was going to be placed under arrest for shoplifting. After someone else came to take custody of Diane’s daughter, Officer Perez placed her under arrest for allegedly shoplifting.

After she was placed under arrest, Officer Perez transported her to the Vineland Police Department for further processing. Diane was charged with shoplifting $251.90 worth of items under 2C:20-11B(2).

Court records indicate that Diane has a long list of prior offenses. She had previously been arrested for driving under the influence and possession in Dennis Township on September 3, 2022. She was later arrested again for driving under the influence in Maurice River on July 17, 2023. Diane had also previously been arrested for shoplifting from CVS in Franklin Township on March 15, 2023 (refer to the link above).

Diane Wareham passed away on July 11, 2024.

Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
