Entitled Woman Arrested for DWI After Blowing Through a Stop Sign in Hoboken

Around 5:45 AM on January 27, 2025, Officer Zackary Guido with the Hoboken Police Department observed the driver of a black 2016 Mercedes fail to stop at a stop sign while driving southbound on Monroe Street near the intersection with 5th Street. He activated his emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop in front of 401 Monroe Street. He exited his patrol car and contact with the driver, and she was identified as Lizabeth Bolinger.

Officer Guido noticed that Lizabeth’s eyes were glossy while her speech was impaired. Lizabeth informed him that she was coming from a friend’s house. Shortly afterwards, Officers Ricky Truppner and Jaydan Gonzalez arrived on scene to assist. Based on the officers’ suspicion of impairment, Officer Truppner asked Lizabeth to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises.

Officer Truppner started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Lizabeth did not touch heel-to-toe on each step while taking an incorrect number of steps. He also attempted to administer the One Leg Stand test, but Lizabeth was uncooperative.

Based on her traffic infraction, her indicators of impairment, and her unwillingness to satisfactorily complete the field sobriety exercises, Lizabeth was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. After she was placed under arrest, the vehicle was impounded for a 12-hour hold according to John’s Law. The officers transported Lizabeth to the Hoboken Police Department for further processing.

At police headquarters, Lizabeth was read the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators, but she refused to submit breath samples. After the officers were finished with their paperwork, Lizabeth was released to a sober adult after he signed the Potential Liability Warning form in Lizabeth’s behalf.

Lizabeth was issued the following citations:

-Operating under the influence

-Reckless driving

-Failure to Stop or Yield

-Failure to provide registration

-Failure to provide proof of insurance

-Unregistered vehicle

-Driving with a suspended license

-Driving with a suspended registration

-Refusal to submit breath samples
