Woman Spits on Cops After Stealing from Hoboken CVS

Around 11:34 PM on January 22, 2025, Officer Dylan Archilla with the Hoboken Police Department was flagged down by an employee at the CVS located at 59 Washington Street to report that a woman had just stolen from the store. He immediately located the suspect matching the employee’s description on Newark Street between Washington Street and Bloomfield Street. He approached the woman and asked her if she had receipts for everything that she had left the store with. When he attempted to place her in handcuffs, she started to resist and continued screaming loudly.

The woman would later be identified as Inna Diaz. Additional officers arrived on scene shortly afterwards and Inna spit on the officers as they were attempting to restrain her. After she was restrained, Officer Cynthia Rivera conducted a search on scene before she was placed in the patrol car. After placing Inna in the car, officers went inside the CVS to speak with the employees about what happened at the store. A CVS employee told the officers that Inna had stolen from that CVS on multiple occasions.

Officers Arturo Gonzalez and Cynthia Rivera transported Inna to the Hoboken Police Department for further processing. At police headquarters, she was photographed and fingerprinted. After the officers finished processing her, she was released with a summons.

Inna was charged with the following:

-Shoplifting (2C:20-11B(1))

-Resisting Arrest (2C:29-2A(1))

-Throwing bodily fluids at a law enforcement officer (2C:12-13)

Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
