Serial Thief Goes to JAIL After Stealing from Target in Middletown Township, NJ

Around 5:35 PM on January 14, 2025, Officer Joshua Chambers with the Middletown Township Police Department responded to a report of a female shoplifter at the Target on 2105 Route 35. He walked over to the loss prevention office and made contact with the alleged shoplifter, who was identified as Robyn Karabin. Officer Wilson Cartagena arrived on scene to assist shortly afterwards. The loss prevention employees informed the officers that the woman had attempted to exit the store with merchandise that was concealed on her person.

The loss prevention employees showed the officers surveillance footage where Robyn allegedly attempted to exit the store with unpaid items. Based on their surveillance footage and the store’s decision to press charges, Robyn was placed under arrest for shoplifting. It would later be determined that Robyn attempted to steal $327.70 worth of items.

After she was placed under arrest, she was escorted to the patrol car and Officer Cartagena placed inside the vehicle. Officer Chambers transported her to the Middletown Township Police Department for further processing. At police HQ, Robyn was searched by Officer Dana McQuade. She was charged with shoplifting under 2C:20-11B(2) and later booked into to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.

Court records indicate that Robyn has multiple prior arrests for shoplifting, possession, and driving under the influence.

Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
