Drunk 19-Year-Old Arrested for DUI While Heading to Work at a Gentlemen’s Club

On February 11, 2025 at approximately 11:27 PM, Officer Calvin Milas with the Downers Grove Police Department observed 2025 GMC Sierra swerving across lanes while heading eastbound on Technology Drive near the intersection with Butterfield Road. He activated his emergency lights, but the driver attempted to elude him and traveled for approximately 2 miles before finally stopping at Summit Avenue and South Lane Drive in Oakbrook Terrace.

He made contact with the driver of the GMC, who was identified as Yuvia. As he was speaking with Yuvia, he observed vomit on the driver side door of the truck as well as other indicators of impairment. Yuvia told the officer that she was headed to work at the Gold Room, a gentlemen’s club in Stone Park, Illinois.

Officer DeVries first asked Yuvia to recite the alphabet from “E” to “W,” but she continued beyond “W.” She was then asked to count backwards from “59” to “37” as well, but she counted all the way to “27.” After Officer Pastrana arrived on scene to assist, Yuvia was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises.

The first field sobriety exercise was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During the HGN test, Officer Milas observed 4/6 indicators of impairment. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Yuvia did not touch heel-to-toe on each step and turned improperly. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test.

Following the field sobriety exercises, Officer Milas offered Yuvia an opportunity to submit to a PBT, but she did not submit an adequate breath sample despite multiple attempts. Based on her erratic driving and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises Officer Milas placed Yuvia under arrest for driving under the influence.

After she was handcuffed, Yuvia was placed in the patrol car and transported to the Downers Grove Police Department for further processing. At the Downers Grove Police Department, the Warning to Motorist form was read to Yuvia and she agreed to provide breath samples. Her breathalyzer test results indicated a BAC level of 0.066%, which was still over the legal limit for drivers under 21 years of age. After they finished processing Yuvia, she was later released pending her court appearance at the DuPage County Courthouse on March 12, 2025.

Yuvia was charged with the following:

-Driving under the influence - alcohol (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2))

-Failure to yield to emergency vehicle (625 ILCS 5/11-907(a)(1))

-Improper lane usage (625 ILCS 5/11-709(a))

-Unlawful possession-consumption of alcohol by a minor (3-3-34)

-Possession of cannabis/tobacco by under 21 prohibited (15.302)
