Serial Thief Goes to JAIL After Stealing Shampoo and Conditioner From CVS

Around 7:32 PM on April 29, 2025, officers with the Princeton Police Department responded to a report of a female shoplifter wearing gray sweatpants at CVS on 881 State Road. Patrolman Ryan Mostrangeli walked into the store and made contact with an employee who informed him that she had been eating cashews and placing numerous unpaid items in her bags. Corporal Michael Schubert, Patrolman James Eufemia, and Sergeant Craig Humble arrived on scene to assist shortly afterwards.

The officers located a female matching the employee’s description, and she was later identified as Casey Helms. After the officers escorted her outside, Casey admitted that she took some items without paying for them. These items included shampoo and conditioner. Based on their evidence and her admission to stealing, Casey was placed under arrest for shoplifting.

A search of her bags incident to arrest yielded the presence of stolen items. Patrolman Mostrangeli transported her to the Princeton Police Department for further processing. She was charged with shoplifting (2C:20-11B(1)) for allegedly stealing $298.77 worth of items. After Casey was processed at the Princeton Police Department, she was transported to the Mercer County Correctional Center.

Casey’s prior arrests include the following incidents:

-An arrest in Watchung, New Jersey on April 23, 2025 after stealing from a Target store

-An arrest in Bridgewater Township, New Jersey on April 21, 2025 for an alleged trespassing incident from April 20, 2025

-A DWI arrest in Warren Township, New Jersey on June 28, 2023

-A DWI arrest in Bridgewater Township, New Jersey on March 12, 2023
