Drunk Mom Arrested AGAIN for DWI After Losing her Son to Foster Care

Around 10:05 PM on November 28, 2023, officers with the Barnegat Township Police Department were dispatched a report of a motor vehicle accident on Windward Drive. Officers arrived on scene and noticed that a blue 2020 Toyota had been flipped upside down after striking a parked 2016 Jeep Compass. An officer then made contact with the driver of the Toyota, who was identified as 22-year-old Alexandra Sepulveda.

From the moment he made contact with her, Alexandra was uncooperative. She told the officers that she was in court earlier that day and upset over the fact that she had lost custody of her son to foster care. She would later tell the officers that they were coming home from Wawa, and that her boyfriend was sitting in the passenger seat at the time of the crash.

Patrolman Kristopher Burke arrived on scene shortly afterwards and recognized Alexandra based on his prior interactions with her. As he was speaking with Alexandra, he detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. Since there were lacerations to her face, first responders were called to the scene to evaluate her. After she refused to be transported to the hospital, he proceeded to administer field sobriety exercises.

Patrolman Burke started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During the HGN test, he observed the lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Alexandra failed to touch heel-to-toe on each step and turned improperly. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test. During the One Leg Stand, Alexandra failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and put her foot down before the test was complete.

Based on the motor vehicle crash, her admission to consuming alcohol, and inability to satisfactorily perform all field sobriety exercises, Alexandra was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. A tow truck was called to flip her vehicle and impound it for a mandatory 12-hour hold under John’s Law. Once the vehicle was flipped, a search of the vehicle yielded an open container of Four Loko. The officers later learned that her vehicle was uninsured. Patrolman Burke transported Alexandra to the Barnegat Township Police Department for further processing.

At the station, the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators was read to Alexandra, and she agreed to submit breath samples for testing. Her Alcotest results indicated a BAC level of 0.195%, which was more than double the legal limit of 0.08%. After the officers were finished with processing Alexandra, she eventually released to her boyfriend Ramon after he signed the Potential Liability Warning form on her behalf.

She was issued the following citations:

-Operating under the influence,

-Reckless driving

-Careless driving

-Driving an unregistered motor vehicle

-No liability insurance coverage on motor vehicle

Court records indicate that Alexandra was later arrested again for her second DWI in Barnegat Township, New Jersey on October 25, 2024. Following her second DWI arrest, she was arrested again for her third DWI in Bordentown Township, New Jersey on February 22, 2025.
