LYING Woman Arrested for DUI After Driving her 3 Drunker Friends from the Bar

On October 26, 2025 at approximately 1:51 AM, Officer Nicholson with the St. Charles Police Department observed a grey 2017 Chevrolet Malibu speeding 40 MPH in a 25 MPH on Main Street. After pacing the vehicle, he activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. The driver turned onto the 0-99 block of S 10th Avenue and pulled over. Officer Nicholson advised dispatch of his location and made contact with the driver, who was identified as 26-year-old Alysha Maulson.

He told Alysha that she was speeding. As he was speaking with Alysha, he detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. She told him that she was coming from The Hive Tavern & Eatery in St. Charles and that she was heading over to her friends’ apartment. Based on his suspicion of impairment, he called Officer Murawski to the scene to assist. After Officer Murawski arrived on scene, Alysha was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises. While she initially denied consuming any alcohol, she admitted to Officer Murawski that she consumed 2 drinks earlier that evening.

The first field sobriety exercise was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During the HGN test, Alysha failed to follow instructions. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Alysha did not touch heel-to-toe on each step, turned improperly, and did not count in the correct sequence. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test, and Alysha was unable to perform this test satisfactorily.

Following the field sobriety exercises, Alysha was offered an opportunity to submit to a PBT test, but she declined. Based on her speeding, her admission to consuming alcohol, and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Officer Murawski placed Alysha under arrest for driving under the influence. After she was handcuffed, Alysha was placed in the patrol car and transported by Officer Murawski to the St. Charles Police Department for further processing. Officer Nicholson conducted an inventory and released her 3 passengers from the scene.

At the St. Charles Police Department, Alysha refused to provide breath samples. After they finished processing Alysha, she was later released pending her court appearance.

Alysha was charged with the following:

-Driving under the influence - alcohol (625 ILCS 5/11-501(a)(2))

-Speeding (625 ILCS 5/11-601(b))
