Woman Slices her Husband With a Kitchen Knife

Prior Arrest

On March 31, 2026 around 11:49 AM, Officer Achraf Diglawi with the Fairview Police Department was dispatched to a residence on a report of a domestic disturbance. An attorney representing the victim had called the police and reported that a man had been stabbed in the head with a knife. Officer Diglawi and Lieutenant Bryan Yannuzzi both arrived on scene around 11:50 AM and made contact with a male, who had visible lacerations to his face. Those lacerations were consistent with a person being sliced with a knife.

Officer Diglawi had just spoken with the female suspect, Shameen Ali, when she had come to the station to inquire about a restraining order. They headed upstairs and placed Shameen under arrest. She initially claimed that she had run down the street and discarded a green kitchen knife in one of the bushes. After repeated questioning, Shameen eventually admitted that the knife was near the tea kettle and that she had washed it after slicing her husband. Officer Diglawi found the knife and it was kept as evidence.

Her husband told one of the officers that he noticed Shameen had been texting with another man, and they got into an argument over it. After he took her phone away from her, she allegedly sliced him across his head with the kitchen knife. Their 10-month-old baby and 2-year-old child were not in the house at the time of this incident. He initially seemed reluctant to receive any medical attention, but he was eventually transported to Hackensack Hospital for further evaluation.

Judge Crystal Calabrese approved putting this complaint on a warrant, and Officer Diglawi subsequently transported Shameen to the Bergen County Corrections & Rehabilitation Center. She was booked into the jail and lodged pending her appearance before a judge. On April 1, 2026, Assistant Prosecutor Bethany Ventola filed a motion for pretrial detention. However, Judge Mitchell Steinhart denied the Assistant Prosecutor's motion on April 8, 2026. Later that same day, Shameen was released from the jail on cashless bail pending her court appearance.

Shameen was charged with the following:

-Unlawful possession of a weapon (2C:39-5D)

-Domestic violence aggravated assault (2C:12-1B(1))

-Possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose – other weapon (2C:39-4D)

This particular case was disposed of in the Superior Court on May 7, 2026. Shameen has previously been arrested for domestic violence in Fairview, NJ after assaulting her husband in front of a police officer on March 12, 2026.
