18-Year-Old Girl Arrested After Racing at DOUBLE the Speed Limit

On April 8, 2026 at approximately 5:10 PM, Officer John Losurdo with the St. Charles Police Department observed a red 2024 Subaru Legacy speeding at 70 MPH in a 35 MPH zone near the 1200 block of Dunham Road. He activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, and the driver pulled over on Muirfield Court. He made contact with the driver, who was later identified as 18-year-old Amanda Fredres.

Since she was driving at double the speed limit and her actions amounted to a misdemeanor, Amanda was placed under arrest shortly after Officer Janis Schuessler arrived on scene to assist. She was placed in Officer Schuessler’s patrol car and transported to the St. Charles Police Department for further processing. After she was processed at the station, Amanda was advised of her charges and eventually released pending her court appearance in the Kane County Branch Courtroom on April 30, 2026 at 9:00 AM.

Amanda was charged with the following:

-Speeding more than 35 MPH (625 ILCS 5/11-601.5(b))

-Improper lane usage (625 ILCS 5/11-709)
