In this clip, Trish Regan explains it’s because they’re too heavily influenced by a new investing fad called ESG. ESG stands for environmental, social, governance. The world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock, took its cue from the Europeans and ‘think-tank gurus’ at Davos, and developed a system on which to rate companies. The system has little to do with profitability and a lot to do with perceived equality, diversity, and sensitivity. on the surface, that’s sounds fine. The problem, however, is that now — instead of focusing on profits — too many companies are focusing on intangible attributes like diversity and inclusivity. Financial Journalist Trish Regan says ESG is a ‘backdoor way’ to gain control — in other words, if the elites can’t control through politics, they control through ESG.
