Peltz sees enormous value in the company, but only if it can find a way to get out of its own darn way. Elon Musk said it well when he recently pointed out that Disney has become the poster child for the so-called ‘woke mind virus.’ By becoming so focused on political correctness, critics say Disney has lost its ability to produce relevant, consumer-oriented content. Peltz sees an opportunity for the company to focus on content (the kind people actually want) and therefore tremendous value for the company. However, company management is furious and pushing back hard; Bob Iger (Disney’s CEO) has enlisted the support of other major investors and even the support of Walt Disney’s heirs.
Can the company be salvaged? I’m digging in.
