as posted by the channelIn 1948, Congress authorized taxpayer funds to manipulate the news cycle overseas. However, the Smith-Mundt Act of 1948 established a "Chinese wall" between the propaganda spread overseas to help ensure various powers were elected and what was allowed to be spread here at home. In 2012, Obama "modernized" the act, resulting in the ability to use USAID funds and other vehicles to influence the news cycle here at home. Trish Regan reports that this was the beginning of the end and gave the "establishment" an unreasonable amount of power.
