In a Crime Watch Daily exclusive with journalist Nerissa Knight, Jeffley proclaims her innocence. Jeffley, 15 at the time, had stayed over at the apartment of friend Eva Mondragon, 24, the night before the alleged murder took place. Mondragon and Jeffley lived in the same apartment complex. Jeffley tells Crime Watch Daily that shortly after she went to another apartment to take a call, her 71-year-old neighbor Maria Palomina was found dead. Jeffley alleges that Mondragon instructed her to lie to police about her whereabouts following the murder.
