On January 2, 2020, Chad and Nikki Entzel’s home caught on fire, and after extinguishing the flames, firefighters discovered Chad’s body inside. He suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was likely killed at the end of December 2019.
Chad’s ex-wife Nikki and her lover Earl Howard were arrested in connection with Chad’s death. Earl pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and other charges and will spend about 21 years in prison before he is eligible for parole.
In October 2022, Nikki was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit arson, and conspiracy to tamper with evidence. She was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 36 years.
