Two years after ex-Neptune police Sgt. Phil Seidle gunned down his ex-wife Tamara on an Asbury Park street, the couple's nine children have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against cops and officials who they say were responsible.
In addition to a failure to take action during a two and a half minute standoff with Seidle before he fired a second round of bullets, the lawsuit claims Neptune police failed to address Seidle's repeatedly violent and aggressive actions toward his family.
In fact, the lawsuit claims fellow Neptune officers essentially covered for Seidle, breaking up domestic disputes and violating state law and policies by not fully reporting Seidle's actions and not disciplining him properly.
The lawsuit names Neptune, Asbury Park, Monmouth County and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, along with members and officials in those agencies.
