The Dakota is/was home to many celebrities, including John Lennon and Yoko Ono. On December 8, 1980, Mark David Chapman shot the music legend at least four times as he enter the entranceway of the building. NYPD cops put the famous Beatles singer in their patrol car and drove him to the Roosevelt Hospital on 9th Avenue.
