as posted by the channel"Divest Trump Soho" began as an online petition and grassroots campaign to prevent public pension funds from being invested in ways that illegally enrich President Trump. Within in a few months, the effort spearheaded by Free Speech for People and Courage Campaign had gotten the Trump Organization fired, and the president's name removed from a Manhattan property that had been known as Trump SoHo.
Shanna Cleveland, senior counsel for Free Speech For People, explains how a letter from 12 members of Congress and the special counsel investigation into illegal money laundering convinced CIM Group to terminate its contract with the Trump Organization. She also explains to TYT's Eric Byler how the Trump/Russia investigation may have played a role, and, how federal investigations into money laundering put Trump's properties in danger of being confiscated by the government.
Bill Doak, a VP at CIM Group issued a statement praising the Trump Organization on Nov. 22, 2017 when the contract termination was announced. The hotel is now called The Dominick.
And, CIM Group spokesperson Bill Mendel declined to comment further when asked by TYT Investigates if the divestment campaign, or the Mueller investigation factored in their decision.
