3:39Now PlayingEven though insulin costs just a few dollars to produce, manufacturers charge so much that millions of diabetics are forced to ration their insulin. 26% of people with Type 1 diabetes in the U.S. rationed their insulin in the past year, according to a survey from the nonprofit diabetes advocacy group T1 International.
People die doing this. For example, 21-year-old Jesy Scherer-Radcliff died rationing insulin, according to his family. Mother Nicole Holt-Smith, whose 26-year-old son also died rationing insulin, said: “My son and Jesy, they were murdered. They were killed by big Pharma. The cause of death should actually be on their death certificates, corporate greed...I want justice for all of their deaths.”
