Join the IOP, the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and the Kreisman Initiative on Housing Law and Policy at the University of Chicago Law School as they welcome back former fellow Bethany McLean to discuss her new book Shaky Ground: The Strange Saga of the U.S. Mortgage Giants. McLean chronicles the story of Fannie and Freddie seven years after the meltdown, and tells us why homeownership finance is now one of the biggest unsolved issues today and why the housing market must be placed on firmer ground.

McLean, a contributing editor to Vanity Fair magazine, is the author of the the acclaimed books The Smartest Guys in the Room, on the Enron scandal, and All the Devils Are Here, on the 2008 financial crisis.
