In this video address, UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres connects the concept of data as an understanding tool to the topic of climate change. She points out how data helps governments and the private sector act on climate.

"Data has improved our understanding of the climate change challenge, the risks involved and the viability of options that minimize risk and maximize reward or, better still, do both. The tools that translate this data into usable information are ultimately the tools that make a big difference for communities struggling to adapt to the effects of climate change."

The UNFCCC Executive Secretary underscores that the Notre Dame Global Adaptation Index interactive tool is a powerful force in climate action, and her remarks encourage GAIN and other actors to make similar tools even as data sets grow larger and more complex.
