as posted by the channelLast Governor Newsom vetoed Senate Bill 57, which would have given three counties in California the ability to approve Overdose Prevention Programs. Although Governor Newsom is not opposed to the idea of OPPs, he vetoed the bill citing potential unintended consequences. New York State already had two OPPs in operation - one in East Harlem and one in Washington Heights. According to the New York Health Department, the sites are doing what they're intended to do.
