as posted by the channelRamon Hueso was convicted for drug related offenses and sentenced to 20 years in prison. After his conviction, congress changed the law in such a way that were he sentenced today, he would only have been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Hueso sues, arguing that the change by congress was merely a clarification of what the law had always been, rather than a substantive change. If Hueso was right, then the law said (substantively) exactly what it says now, which means his sentence was a legal error.
