A cop killed a helpless dog without cause. During a call to a home, the cop observed the dog in the backyard. The dog was tethered. The cop went up to the dog, still out of the range of the tether, and shot the dog in the head. For no apparent reason.
In today's legal analysis, we discuss if the police can shoot a restrained dog that poses no threat, and if that is totally cool as far as qualified immunity goes.
The law is not always a pretty place :(
