This story has it all. Prostitution. Police raid. Police getting shot during the raid. A claim of self defense under Florida's stand your ground law. So much to unpack!
Some families are strict. Others have no issue with one family member "working" from home - even if it is a "working girl". This is a story of the latter.
During an attempted raid on a house of purported ill-repute, the owner of the house, the uncle of the girl who is "working" there, shoots and hits the police. The police, super grumpy at being shot at, claim this is attempted murder of a police officer. The man claims self defense and invokes Florida's stand your ground law.
So, either live in prison, or a walk. Well, that is quite the potential legal difference! Let's look at the facts and look at the law, and see whether the uncle goes to jail forever, or instead is allowed to continue letting his niece hook from his home another day!
