CONTENT WARNING: Today's story is DARK. Eight-year-old Gabriel Taye died by suicide due to rampant bullying, including knocked out teeth and lying on a school bathroom floor knocked out unconscious for seven minutes. The school repeatedly neglects to take any corrective steps, such as punishing the bullies or even notifying the parents.
The parents sue the school for wrongful death, alleging the school's blatant neglect was a significant factor in the child's death. The school argues - you guessed it - qualified immunity.
In today's story, we look at the horror show facts of this case, and discuss the law as it relates to the school's responsibility.
I don't normally due the content warning thing, but this one is pretty bad.
The law is not always a nice place. Way to go Mary Ronan, Ruthenia Jackson, and Jeffery McKenzie ...
