Central to the lawsuit are the actions Remini attributes to the Church's "Office of Special Affairs" and its policies concerning "Suppressive Persons". Additionally, Remini alleges the Church utilized its resources to influence her professional relationships and reputation.
Since her departure from the Church in 2013, Remini has been publicly critical of its practices. She has also founded The Aftermath Foundation, which supports individuals transitioning away from the Church.
