The parents are being accused of buying the gun that their son used in the shooting, and of reckless disregard of a known threat leading to death. The case is novel and unprecidented in attempting to hold parents responsible for a homicide caused by their children, and raises significant legal concern about how if the parents are convicted in what ways other parents may likewise be held responsible for their child's acts.
