4:54Now PlayingOn May 8, 2014, the U.S. Institute of Peace hosted the Second Annual Sheikha Fatima Lectureship on “Women Leading for Peace” at USIP headquarters in Washington D.C., which featured three distinguished female leaders who examined how women’s leadership and skills enhance peacebuilding globally.
In recognition of women as peacebuilders, the United States Institute of Peace established the Sheikha Fatima Lectureship series around Women at the Table, with the second annual lecture focusing on “Women Leading for Peace.” This year’s lectureship showcased what it means to be a leader in diplomacy, civil society and media, and offered examples of exemplary leadership in the field of women, peace and security.
As part of USIP’s focus on building the role of women in the peaceful resolution of conflicts worldwide, the Institute named the series of commemorative lectureships for Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi, the wife of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founder and First President of the United Arab Emirates.
