Well, there is one notable philosopher who thought that a lot of philosophy is a waste of time. AJ Ayer was a British philosopher and verificationist who wanted to purge philosophy of nonsense and make it into a beautiful and precise discipline. And while he did not fully succeed, he raised some important points that are worth considering.
