A chance meeting on Tinder led to a life saving kidney donation for a Florida woman.
Erika Bragan needed a kidney and couldn't find a donor. She'd asked friends and family to be tested to find a match. She never would have guessed that her husband's friend's blind date would lead to a kidney match.
"I was just getting ready to start dialysis and start that whole process," she said. "The timing just couldn't be more perfect."
Around the July 4 holiday weekend, Bragan's friend, Rich O'Dea, went on his Tinder social dating app. He looked through pictures and found Jennifer Thomas. He swiped right, indicating that he'd like to start a conversation with her. She swiped right on his picture, too.
"I thought she was pretty," said O'Dea. "I figured I'd take a chance and swipe right."
They went to a concert and conversation led to Erika's diagnosis of Polycystic Kidney Disease. Thomas decided, without ever meeting Erika, to get tested to see if she was a match.
