About 40 percent of the students at Brooklyn Lab have special needs, and that’s why the charter school is devoted to unlocking learning in unconventional ways. “We deeply prize personalized learning, and that means meeting every student where they are,” says co-founder Erin Mote.

“[This community has] hundreds of charging stations for learning — museums and university research centers,” says co-founder Eric Tucker. “What we’re committed to doing is making sure the school is the connector.”
