FORTH WORTH, TX — Officially speaking, Thomas Mayfield is a 4th-grade math teacher.
But like all amazing teachers, Mayfield is teaching much more than the class and topic he’s been assigned to. He’s teaching his students confidence, intelligence, and musicality.
For the past ten years he’s been running an after-school club at Fort Worth Independent School District, called The Mathematically Intelligent Little Kids. Open to students grades 3-12, the program emphasizes academics and encourages kids to study hard, work hard, and create a future for themselves.
