Minnesota Democratic Rep. Angie Craig was assaulted at her apartment building in Washington on Thursday morning, according to the congresswoman’s office. The incident occurred in an elevator around 7:15 a.m.
“Rep. Craig defended herself from the attacker and suffered bruising, but is otherwise physically okay,” Craig’s chief of staff, Nick Coe, said in a statement. Coe added that “there is no evidence that the incident was politically motivated.”
