President Joe Biden said Monday that neither the U.S. nor its military allies were involved in the Russian rebellion. Biden on a trip to Poland last year suggested the U.S. supports regime change in Russia, saying in a speech that Vladimir Putin is a "dictator" who "cannot remain in power." Biden later clarified his remarks, and on Sunday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, emphasized the decision would be up to the Russian people.
Recounting a virtual meeting he had with key U.S. allies over the weekend, where they discussed the situation and coordinated their response to the events taking place inside of Russia, Biden said Monday, “They agreed with me that we had to make sure we gave Putin no excuse...to blame this on the West or to blame this on NATO."
