45:01Now PlayingBryan Kohberger, the man accused of murdering four Idaho college students in 2022, is expected to change his plea to guilty in a hearing on July 2 after accepting a deal with prosecutors to avoid the death penalty.
Kohberger, 30, was charged in the murders of Madison Mogen, 21; Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Ethan Chapin, 20. The four were found stabbed to death in their rental house close to the University of Idaho campus on Nov. 13, 2022. Kohberger, who was studying criminal justice at the time at a nearby university, was arrested weeks after the murders in Pennsylvania, where his family lives.
The plea agreement came just over a month before murder trial proceedings were set to begin in August, after multiple delays and setbacks for the defense team over evidence and defense strategy.
