4:59:21Now PlayingA weakening Tropical Storm Bertha made landfall Wednesday afternoon in Louisiana, as the disheveled storm continued to churn along the Gulf Coast, forecasters from the National Hurricane Center said.
At 3 p.m. ET, the hurricane center announced that Bertha made landfall near the Biloxi Wildlife Management Area in St.Bernard Parish, Louisiana. The storm's maximum sustained winds had dropped to 45 mph with higher gusts.
Additional weakening is forecast during the next couple of days, but Bertha could maintain tropical-storm intensity through late Thursday.
The center of the storm is expected to pick up speed today and move farther inland into Texas on Friday.
