Blanche got a major boost when Republican Senators John Cornyn of Texas and Thom Tillis of North Carolina agreed to support his attorney general bid Aug. 3. They did so after Blanche formally dropped a proposed $1.776 billion "anti-weaponization" fund and clarified limits to President Donald Trump's controversial immunity on tax issues.
At the hearing, Cornyn delivered a speech explaining how Blanche dropping the $1.776 billion fund led to flipping his support in favor of the president's nominee.
