In Los Angeles, some Latinx artists are pushing the artistic frontiers of homo hop—a musical subgenre of hip hop that blurs the boundaries between sexuality, queer identity, and gangster rap. Deadlee and Baby Boi Slim are two Latinx rappers who have notably shaped homo hop, and whose musical careers have directly confronted the perceived homophobia in mainstream rap.

Broadly’s Paola Ramos met up with the two artists as they recorded their first collaboration.
