But the 5 million migrant workers who live there, making up more than half the population, have an entirely different experience. They live in appalling conditions, and regularly end up with nothing, even after years of hard work—and now, many of them are employed on a project bearing the name of a man who might be our next president.
Ben Anderson went to Dubai to examine the living conditions of the laborers who are working on some of the city's most recognizable projects. This is his debrief.
