Ο Στέλιος Παπαδόπουλος είναι ένας πυγμάχος από τη Νέα Πέραμο Καβάλας, που έζησε το όνειρο των ΗΠΑ -συγκεκριμένα στο Λος Άντζελες- όπου αγωνιζόταν τα τελευταία χρόνια. Εκεί προπονητής του ήταν ο φημισμένος Rob Sale, στο γυμναστήριο Wild Card, από όπου έχουν περάσει θρύλοι του μποξ, όπως ο Manny Pacquiao και ο Miguel Cotto.
Πριν από δύο χρόνια και όντας αήττητος για εννιά αγώνες στις ΗΠΑ, επέστρεψε στην Ελλάδα για να κερδίσει τίτλο της ομοσπονδίας WBU. Μίλησε στον Παύλο Τουμπέκη για τα πολιτισμικά σοκ που υπέστη στην Αμερική, για το σκληρό πρόγραμμα που πρέπει να ακολουθεί και τον Sylvester Stallone, που είναι θαυμαστής του Έλληνα πυγμάχου.
To Golden Boy, δηλαδή Χρυσό Αγόρι, όπως είναι το παρατσούκλι του Στέλιου Παπαδόπουλου, μπήκε στον κόσμο των μαχητικών αθλημάτων από πολύ μικρός, κατακτώντας πανελλήνια πρωταθλήματα, τόσο στην πυγμαχία όσο και στο kickboxing.
Λίγο πριν φύγει για την Αμερική, είχε μετακομίσει για κάποιο διάστημα στην Αθήνα, για να έχει περισσότερες ευκαιρίες και παιχνίδια ως kickboxer. Ωστόσο, ο προπονητής του στην Αθήνα, ο Γρηγόρης Μάλλιος, επέμενε να ακολουθήσει αυστηρά την πυγμαχία. Έτσι, μεσολάβησε για το μεγάλο ταξίδι του Έλληνα μποξέρ στην άλλη πλευρά του Ατλαντικού και το όνειρο ξεκίνησε.
