Nigeria, home of Africa's film production mecca... and oil! The richest nation on the African continent not only has its own Hollywood, but also one of the richest dinosaur juice reserves in the world. Despite the deep ethnic division that has plagued the country since independence, Nigeria has managed to establish itself as a major player on the international energy chessboard. But its oil does not always bring good news.
Corruption in the oil sector is so widespread that most Nigerian citizens do not see their lives improved by the riches of their own land. As a result, vandalism has blossomed and, with it, terrorism has intensified. It is no longer just Boko Haram. Security in #Nigeria is a serious problem holding back the advancement of the Nigerian economy and society. The State no longer controls all of its sovereign territory, and while it has not become a failed State already, conditions are currently ripe. However the international geopolitical situation may be opening a new and lucrative window of action for this nation.
What exactly is Nigeria like? How did it become one of the world's leading oil suppliers? Is it a failed State? How can Nigeria take advantage of the conflict between #Russia and Ukraine? In this video we tell you.
