The poorest country in Latin America and the poorest in the northern hemisphere is on the verge of total collapse. With a cholera epidemic, food insecurity increasing by the second and an institutional crisis marked by power struggles and corruption, Haiti is trying to find a solution.
In addition, the gangs have already become the country's main problem, spreading violence wherever they go. For this reason, the provisional government of Ariel Henry is debating between two strategies: to ask for foreign military intervention or to emulate Bukele.
What has caused the desolation of Haiti? How have gangs evolved in the country? What is the Haitian government proposing to mitigate the violence? What strategies are most viable? Today we will answer these questions.
