YouTube Description

as posted by the channel

This a direct quote from the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles, a series of epic historical documents written by anonymous monks from the late 800s to the 1100s. It covers some seven centuries of English history and was probably commissioned by Alfred the Great of Wessex during the Ninth Century. Though the earliest years prior to Alfred's reign cannot always be relied upon as they were by and large not written by contemporary witnesses, certainly by 1066 the work was written by people who actually witnessed or at least lived through the events described.

I've compiled a reading list of my favourite history books via the Amazon influencer program. If you do choose to purchase any of these incredible sources of information then Amazon will send me a tiny fraction of the earnings (as long as you do it through the link) (this means more and better content in the future) I'll keep adding to and updating the list as time goes on:-
