Irpin is a hero city. Which from the first days of full-scale russian invasion firmly held the defense. Mayor Oleksandr Markushyn recalls that after three weeks of infernal war, he told Irpin defenders: "Either we will defeat the occupiers here today and go into battle, or we will lose the city." The city was completely liberated from the russian invaders on March 28.

We spoke with Oleksandr Markushyn about the city's preparations for war, heavy fighting, important decisions for the protection of Irpin, urban population evacuation, war crimes committed by the enemy, and about the return of civil population to the city, recovery of Irpin and exhumation of dead bodies.
