5:43Now PlayingThe Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Charles Brown, emphasized the importance of continuing to support Ukraine. Otherwise, he said, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will win the war against Ukraine. Brown commented on statements by some Republican politicians about intentions to stop supporting Ukraine, reports Voice of America. "If we collectively stop supporting Ukraine, Putin will win," said the general. According to Brown, trust in the US and NATO is at stake. He warned that Putin's victory could "inspire" others, particularly "opening the door for Xi Jinping," the Chinese leader, who was named the main threat to the US during this week's Republican convention. "I believe it is important to continue supporting Ukraine… Our leadership matters, and the world is watching," said the US Chief of Staff. He added that the support from allies has prevented Ukraine from being quickly overrun by Russia, and the war has strengthened NATO as an alliance. Brown noted that this was not only due to the addition of two new members but also thanks to the strengthened "internal dialogue."
