Europe has not directly blamed Russia for the attack on the cable, but it is clear that many governments in the region believe that the Putin regime is responsible. The Russian State Duma believes that the submarine cables connecting Germany and Finland, as well as Lithuania and Sweden in the Baltic Sea, were damaged by a sawfish. The Russian Foreign Ministry also urged not to look for a ‘Russian trace’ or ‘Moscow's hands’ in everything. This was reported by The Moscow Times. Andrii Ryzhenko, a military expert, captain of the first rank of the Ukrainian Navy Reserve, former deputy chief of staff of the Ukrainian Navy, commented on the news.
