5:48Now PlayingOil prices dropped as traders focused on the upcoming meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. Markets are weighing the possibility that sanctions on Russian oil could be eased if the talks produce a ceasefire deal. Trump has threatened “severe” tariffs on Moscow if no agreement is reached within 50 days, but analysts note his deadlines often shift. Brent crude fell amid expectations that any softening of restrictions could increase Russian exports and put further downward pressure on prices. Russia is preparing for a sharp fall in global oil prices to $40–50 a barrel by the end of 2025, according to Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service. A report from the Russian “Roscongress” foundation warns that prices could drop further into early 2026. At present, oil trades at $66–68 a barrel, but the market is experiencing what analysts describe as a “new price war.” TV Host Nataliia Lutsenko will talk about these and other current news.
