European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said any settlement that forces Ukraine to lose territory or accept limits on its military cannot be compromised, arguing such concessions would jeopardise both Ukraine’s sovereignty and Europe’s long-term security. Von der Leyen stressed that the EU must play its role in shaping any agreement, from security guarantees to reconstruction planning.
